Murder in city, body found at Chhaygaon

GUWAHATI, Oct 28: It is room for doubt in an auto-rickshaw moving at a breakneck speed that led the organizers of Raax Mahotsav at Chhaygaon to discover the body of a youth in the tree-wheeler.
When some people were distributing invitation cards for the Raax Mahotsav at Chhaygaon on Friday night, they saw an auto-rickshaw (AS01EC4574) going in a breakneck speed towards Gumipath. Suspicious at the movement of the auto-rickshaw, the people were hot on trail of it and caught it at Soripara. The auto-rickshaw was carrying a big carton. Opening the carton they found the body of a youth, who happened to be of Prafulla Rabha (27) of Chhaygaon. The auto-rickshaw had three occupants. While one of them fled the scene during the altercation, two others were caught. Two youths who were leading the auto-rickshaw with a motorcycle also fled the scene. They made no delay to inform the police. The police arrested the two – Ramu Mahato and Lalit Mahato. 
The two Mahatos told the police that their rickshaw had been hired by three people and loaded the carton supposed to have orments inside. “Two of the three who hired the auto-rickshaw were leading us with a motorcycle and the third one was sitting with us, and they all fled the scene as soon as we’re caught by the public,” one of the Mahatos said. 
Chhaygaon police, with the help of City Police, raided a third floor room of Junumoni Medhi’s house at Milan Path at Boragaon in the city. The police got a blood-stained cloth, some ropes and an iron rod from the room that was taken on rent by one Moinul Ali four months back. An Airtel dish cash memo in the me of one Mujibor Rahman was also found from the room.
Neighbours said that they heard of a quarrel on Friday evening. They also saw a woman going out of the room. It was followed by three youths coming in with a motorcycle to the room, and two of them loaded a carton in an auto-rickshaw around 8.30 pm.
Prafulla Rabha had been in Guwahati but his family members do not know what he was doing. The motive behind the killing has been ascertained as yet. A bag found from the carton had three cheques amounting to Rs 9 lakh, a passbook and a mobile set.
