NDRF organizes disaster awareness programme

GUWAHATI, Sept 16: The 1st Battalion of NDRF conducted community awareness programme at Royal Global School, Garchuk in the city on Friday.

The awareness programme included various rescue techniques taken during earthquake, medical first responder skills and conducted Lecture cum demonstration on School safety, stated a NDRF release.   

Since the inception, NDRF Guwahati endeavours to make North East safe from all types of disasters. Northeast India has challenging terrain. It is always on high of various types of tural calamities. “Disasters often strike without warning and left series of devastation. The loss of life and damage to property due to disaster can be reduced by sensitizing local population, preparedness and what preventive actions to be taken in case of disaster, as community is the first responder to respond to disasters,” read the release.

1st NDRF has not only respond in various disaster to save lives but has also trained personnel of SDRF, railways, state police, student, volunteers, NGO’s of North Eastern states in disaster magement training. 1st NDRF has given exposure on disaster magement to over five lakhs personnel of North East including students through exhibition, mock drill, capsule training, and community awareness programme on disaster magement, complying its man mandate to make disaster resilient India since its inception, the release stated.     The programme where 800 personnel of Akhil Bhartiya Terapant Yuvak Parishad (ABTYP) took part, was appreciated by the NGO which said NDRF programme on disaster magement is really eye opener and we would be very happy if NDRF organizes more such programme in future.
