NDRF, others clean Umanda Temple

GUWAHATI, Feb 22: The first NDRF Battalion today carried out Swachata Abhiyan programme by cleaning and launching a sanitation campaign  in coordition with Kamrup (M) district administration at Umanda Temple, Guwahati, from 9 am to 11.30 am.

Battalion Commandant S K Sastri, along with four officers, eight subordite Officers and 91 other ranks, 104 of NDRF personnel, eight temple committee members, 38 GMC officials, eight Civil Defence persol, Kamrup (M) DC M Angamuthu and an ADC took part in the drive. They cleaned the Temple premises and disposed of the garbage around the temple, a press release said.

The DC has asked the departments concerned to deploy two medical units, adequate illumition in both Umanda and Shukreshwar temples, banned plastics, supply of paper bags and cups, and watch of consumption of any rcotics and drugs inside the temple premises, return of all devotees by 4.30 pm, etc.
