NDRF-SDRF earthquake mock drill conducted

GUWAHATI, December 18: A district-level joint mock drill on earthquake disaster with district stake holders was conducted today at Khapara in Guwahati in order to ensure effective response by all stakeholders, officials in case of emergency.

The first NDRF Battalion took active participation and assisted ASDMA in planning and coorditing at the initial stage and played a leading role during the mock drill. NDRF, SDRF, civil defence, fire service, 108 ambulance service, police, volunteers from the community and NGOs participated in the exercise.

On the occasion, first NDRF, commanding officer SK Sastri said: “These exercises ensure activation and prompt response of all stakeholders in a district and such frequent mock drills also make the district response system more effective and result oriented at the time of actual disaster. Mock drills provide suitable platform and sustaible mechanism for state and central authorities for synchronization and rapid employment of rescuers at district/state level.”
