GUWAHATI, March 4: The Purbittar Simanta Railway Karmachari Sangha (PSRKS) has come to the rescue of its employer organization – NF Railway – on the allegation that candidates from the Northeast are being deprived of jobs in the Central government Department.
Talking to the media at Guwahati Press Club here on Sunday, PSRKS chief convener Jitu Hazarika said: “The allegation that candidates from the Northeast are being deprived by NF Railway isn’t based on facts. The fact remains that candidates from the Northeast lack right coaching on facing Railway Recruitment Board Examitions. Gheraoing offices of NF Railway GM and Railway Recruitment Board chairman is not going to solve the problem. The rot lies in the preparations of candidates taking such examitions.”
Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh’s (BMS) all India general secretary Virijes Upadhyay, who also present at the press meet, said: “The Central Government, while presenting its budget on February 1, 2018, has announced to hike pay 1.5 times higher price to farmers for their productions, provision of Rs 2,600 core for irrigation, Rs 11 lakh crore cheap loans for farmers as well as health insurance at the rate of Rs 5 lakh to ten core families per year. We welcome all such ventures, but on the other hand, the Government has not paid any attention towards long-outstanding burning issues of labourers in as much as raising of income tax limit to salaried class up to Rs. 5 lakh, enhancing EPF pension from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000, increasing honorarium to scheme workers and bringing them under social security coverage, implementation of Supreme Court verdict on equal pay for equal work to contract workers, withdrawing anti-labour provisions under the grab of Labour Laws Reforms etc., are concerned. In the railways the work of doubling, tripling and four-laning and classification of the track route are going on speedily. All allowances abolished on the recommendation of 7th CPC should be revived. Further, delay in payment of running and other allowances to be released forthwith. Nevertheless violation of labour laws in Railways, and sanction of staff as per safety standard should be the basis of yardstick while announcing introduction of new running trains etc.”
He said that the central executive body of Bharatiya Railway Mazdoor Sangh, an industrial unit of BMS, is going to discuss all the above issues at its meeting slated for March 5 and 6, 2018 at Rang Bhawan Auditorium, Maligaon, Guwahati.
