NEDFi completes 20 years

 GUWAHATI, August 10: North Eastern Development Fince Corporation Ltd (NEDFi) has  completed 20 eventful years of its existence on August 9, 2015. The Corporation has grown in scale and size over the last 20 years of its operation and its loan portfolio as on March 31,  2015 stood at Rs. 1240 crore out of that 72% are in MSME sector.

So far, NEDFi has supported more than 2500 first generation entrepreneurs for setting up various micro and small enterprises at concessiol rates of interest. With the objective of fincial inclusion of the remote un-served and underserved areas of the region, NEDFi extended micro fince loans to the rural poor and weaker section of the society, through its partner institutions covering about 5 lakh beneficiaries at concessiol rates of interest. During the period, the Corporation could also attract investors for setting up projects like cement, steel, hotel, hospital, educatiol institution etc. in the region.

The Corporation during the period has been successful in providing skill development / capacity building and market linkages to artisans through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the Corporation.

On the momentous occasion of 20th Incorporation Day, the Corporation in recognition of outstanding entrepreneurial initiative of entrepreneurs of the region has instituted the "NEDFi Award 2015" to felicitate them and to inspire and encourage first generation and prospective entrepreneurs in the North East. Twenty such entrepreneurs across the eight NE states engaged in activities such as Silk Yarn & Silk Jute Fabric manufacturing, education, renewable energy, bakery, crafts making etc. assisted by the Corporation were awarded the "NEDFi Award 2015".
