Negligence on office attendance

By our Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, February 14: The directive of the Government of Assam issued recently to keep all government offices open on February 14, 2015 was not followed by many. The office of the Assam State Commission for Women was not open on February 14 till 11.30 am against the normal time for starting office works from 10 am. This reporter, who visited the office on that day, found only a fourth grade temporary watchman in the office. A complaint had to go back from the office as there was none to receive complaints. The person came to lodge a complaint in the office.  Dispur had cancelled the holiday of February 14, 2015 to compensate the extended holiday on Magh Bihu this year. This circular had been declared through all media and authorities concerned. However, more than half of the employees were absent in the office on February 14. When the matter was brought to the notice of the senior officers concerned of the office, but they said that they had not been informed properly by the authority and that happened only because of misunderstanding between the officials and the authority.
