Fraud held over threat calls in me of spurious ultra body

GUWAHATI, Dec 21: Following a tip-off, the Chandmari Police Wednesday night bbed one Ramen Baishya who claiming to be a member of the hardly known ‘Lion Liberation Front of Assam’ was demanding an amount of Rs. 10 lakh from Santosh Rai, the owner of ‘Tips Garage’ at Bamunimaidam near Anuradha Cinema Hall. The accused person hails from No 2 Madgharia under Noonmati PS.

Interestingly, Baishya has a small shop dealing with mobile SIMs and other computer work near the Tips Garage. Baishya has been giving threatening calls to Rai by changing SIMs. The Police traced him by identifying a single 15-digit IMEI number of the accused person.

Baishya had even threatened to shoot Rai if the latter failed to cough up the amount. The last date for the cash as demanded by Baishya from Rai was December 17.
