NEPCA boycotts petroleum services on Oct 26

GUWAHATI, Oct 24: The North East Petroleum Carriers’ Association (NEPCA) will boycott petroleum services like loading, unloading, carrying and handling of any sort of petroleum products in all the 13 locations of IOC in the Northeast, however, without affecting the services of petrol depots.

“The fixing of transport rates of IOC is not proper. Moreover the value of rates has come down from rates set earlier. As if to cap it all, the OIL marketing company is coming up with expression of interests before the tender process. The conditions of expression of interests seem to blatantly unfair to the local transporters and dealers as the number of vehicles would come down to 3 from 5. The fundamental and other legal rights of the local dealers and transporters have been compromised,” NEPCA president Ranjan Sharma said.

“We will boycott all petroleum services like loading, unloading, carrying and handling of any sort of petroleum products on Wednesday, October 25. However, petrol pumps will remain open,” Sharma added.

The NEPCA, however, stated that if its appeals continue to be neglected petrol pump services will also be boycotted in the future.
