New Bill in the offing

GUWAHATI, Aug 20: The Assam Government is going to introduce a Bill – the Assam Employees Parental Responsibility Norms for Accountability Monitoring Act, 2017 – which, if passed, will compel sons and daughters to look after their parents and disabled siblings.

Making this announcement at a press meet in the city on Sunday, State Fince Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said: “In the event of any person not obeying this, complaint can be lodged in his/her departments that will hear both sides and make way for cutting 10-15 per cent salaries for parents or disabled siblings.”
