New BoP to be set up along Assam-Meghalaya border

GUWAHATI, Sept 9: The Assam Government has decided to set up another Border Outpost (BoP) at Langpih bordering Meghalaya.

The new BoP will be set up between the two existing BoPs – one at Lower Langpih and the other at Upper Langpih.

A high-level delegation, led by South Kamrup District Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rajib Prakash Baruah and Superintendent of Police (SP) Prasanta Saikia visited the site where the BoP will be established on Thursday.

The delegation interacted with the local population and tried to find out the problems faced by the people.

The DC – on taking stock of the problems – instructed the departments concerned to come up with immediate solution concerning the people.

Baruah also assured the locals of addressing their needs.

Sources said that electricity and water are the two major problems being faced by the people residing in the bordering area. The DC, along with the delegation, also visited the BoPs situated at Upper and Lower Langpih and interacted with the police personnel. The delegation also enquired about the problems based the Assam Police jawans posted to the BoPs and assured them of immediate solution.  District officials from Health, Education, Forest, PHE and other line departments accompanied the DC and SP.
