New traffic plan banks on one-way roads

GUWAHATI, Oct 2: Guwahati DCP (Traffic) Amanjeet Kaur has brought about some major changes in the existing traffic plan in the city for, what he said, in the interest of smooth traffic magement to minimize traffic congestion on the roads of Guwahati city. According to the changes made, a number of city roads will be one-way with effect from October 3, 2016.

Talking to newsmen in the city today, the IPS officer said: “The B Baruah Road is declared as one-way. Vehicles coming from GS Road will enter B Baruah Road and go to Guwahati Club. The entry of vehicles coming from Guwahati club towards B Baruah Road is restricted. Vehicles coming from Guwahati Club and Chandmari, MG Road can enter GS Road via RBI, NO Bridge, SO Bridge, Gandhibasti Road, MLN Road etc.

“AT Road from SO Bridge till Bharalumukh point is declared as one-way. There will be No Entry of vehicles on AT Road from the Bharalumukh side. Vehicle coming from SO Bridge side will be allowed to move via AT Road towards Bharalumukh. The vehicles from Bharalumukh side may proceed via MG Road, MLN Road, NO Bridge and SO Bridge.

“The SRCB Road (Sunrise point on AT Road) is declared as one-way. Vehicles coming from Fancy Bazar towards AT Road are prohibited. Entry of vehicles from AT Road side is allowed. The vehicles from Fancy Bazar side towards AT Road may go via MG Road, MLN Road, NO Bridge and SO Bridge.

“MLN Road is declared as one-way from MG Road side. Vehicles will be allowed to enter from MG Road side towards Paltan Bazar via MLN Road. No vehicles will be allowed to enter MLN Road from AT Road side. The vehicles may proceed via AT Road, SRCB Road or via Ulubari, B Baruah Road, GNB Road, KLB Road, HB Road.

“No vehicles will be allowed to park in the Paltan Bazar area.”
