NF Rly stands behind Assam to fight flood fury

GUWAHATI, July 14: Following large-scale devastation of the current wave of flood and under the direction of Prime Minister rendra Modi, Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has asked the Railways to provide its men and material to the flood-affected people of Assam.

In view of this, NF Railway General Mager Chahatey Ram met Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal at Brahmaputra State Guest House on Friday and held a discussion with him on various aspects of the unprecedented devastations caused by the current wave of floods.

Ram discussed with the Chief Minister the probable aspects that railways can extend its machineries to assuage the sufferings of the flood-affected people. During the discussion Ram informed Sonowal that Railways can provide relief materials to the flood victims. Ram also stated that Prime Minister rendra Modi had directed the Railways to stand behind the flood-affected people of Assam at this time of crisis. He also assured the Chief Minister that NF Railway would help the local administration in restoration of communication link spped off due to the devastating floods.

Meanwhile, Union Minister for Power Piyush Goyal talked to Chief Minister Sonowal this morning and assured him of all possible help from his ministry. He also directed all the organizations and agencies under the Ministry of Power to provide all possible help to assuage the sufferings of the flood-affected people in the State.
