NFR to raise speed limit in crucial sections

Guwahati, March 30: In tune with the policy of Railway Board for increasing of sectiol speed under mission Raftar, NF Railway has decided to immediately increase the speed of two sections in Rangiya Division.  The sections are North Lakhimpur to Sripani, a distance of almost 82 Km, where the speed will be raised from 80 KMPH to 100 KMPH.  Again, the speed from the section from Sripani to Murkongselek which is a distance of 74 KM the speed is being raised from 75 KMPH to 100 KMPH.  Increasing of speed has multifarious benefits.  It leads to more efficient utilization of fixed assets like railway tracks which leads to increase the carrying capacity of the track.  This means more number of trains are able to ply without increasing track length or any other fincial investments.  It is to be mentioned that rangi – Thakurkuchi section of Lumding Division, which is a length of 9 KM is also planned for enhancement of sectiol speed from 75 KMPH to 100 KMPH. This has been stated in an NFR release.
