NGO godown set ablaze

DIMORIA, Nov 24: The godown of an NGO and a dumper were set ablaze, allegedly by miscreants, at 1 pm at Moupur near Sopur today.

The godown was of SP Memorial Siksha Niketan, an NGO.  The office-bearers of the NGO alleged that some youths, who claim themselves to be Amri-Karbi Youths, are suspected to be behind setting the godown ablaze. “Since its inception in the area, some youths have been threatening our office-bearers. They even told our office-bearers  that they won’t allow the NGO to do its activities here,” leaders of the NGO said.

Meanwhile, Amri-Karbi Students’ Union president Hareswar Rahang said that the allegation is baseless. He warned the NGO not to level such baseless allegation against them in the future. Property worth lakhs of rupees was damaged at the fire.
