NGO's gesture for traffic police

BY OUR STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Oct 1: Come rain, come shine, traffic police personnel have to work day in, day out to make roads users reach their destitions safe. They miss festivals like Durga Puja or Bihu or Eid when they their workloads become even heavier, yet they get only blames – nothing else. To honour their sacrifices, North Eastern Economical Development Society (NEEDS) on Sunday felicitated all the traffic police personnel manning the traffic points in the city with a packet of sweets and a gift package each.

The event was started at the traffic point near Rajiv Bhawan, covering after all over the city and ended at Bhangagarh Traffic Point.  Speaking to the media, NEEDS founder Amandeep Paul said, “The motive of the programme is to make them (traffic police personnel) feel good as they serve us day in, day out by staying far away from their families, near and dear ones so that we can stay safe.”
