NHPC provides vehicle for mid-day meal

GUWAHATI, March 14: NHPC, under its Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustaible Development Scheme, has provided a customized pickup van to Akshaya Patra Foundation at Amingaon here today. MP Lakhimpur Pradan Baruah took part at the flag-off ceremony.
This vehicle will be used for delivering mid-day meal to students of government schools in and around Guwahati. Akshaya Patra Foundation, Guwahati is currently providing mid-day meals to around 47,000 students in 607 government schools in Kamrup district.
Speaking on the occasion, the MP said that health and hygienic food is of outmost importance for children. He expressed his gratitude to NHPC for providing a customized vehicle to Akshaya Patra, Guwahati for carrying forward their mission.
Akshaya Patra Foundation president Jarda Dasa showed the kitchen to Baruah and explained the process of preparing mid-day meal. “Such a kitchen in Hajo will again cater to the needs of thousands other schools in the state,” Dasa said. 
NHPC executive director Ronel Kumar briefed the social commitments of NHPC towards the people living in the vicinity of the project. He hoped that this customized vehicle shall facilitate Akshaya Patra Foundation reaching out to more school children.
