Nirmali Kataki: A Tribute

Nirmali kataki, wife of late Pabitra Chandra Kataki, passed away on July 25 at Guwhati. She was the fourth daughter of ndi th Kakoti of Bailghat in Sivsagar who later shifted to Dibrugarh. She passed BA from Kanoi College, Dibrugarh and was married to younger son of Late Keshab Ch Kataki in the year 1965. After her marriage she maintained cordial relations with sister-in-law and other relatives from in-laws. She played Hawain guitar and learnt key board from Shekhar Deb Roy in the early 60s. She engaged Jagadish Sarma and Prem Lal in designing carpentry works. My father fully supported her in this regard. She also opened Chatrunga Club at Japorigog, Guwhahti. She was inspired by Bishnu Rabha and Jyoti Prasad and wrote short stories. She was also actively associated with Assam Lekiha Samrroh Samiti.
On this day of Ardhya Sharddha we pray the almighty may her soul rest in peace.
