No-parking zones in Fancy Bazar a farce

GUWAHATI, April 29: Since Rongali Bihu, the no-parking zones declared in the Fancy Bazar area in the city are back to square one due to negligence on the part of the GMC and traffic police.

SB Road in the area is a no-parking zone, but nowadays vehicles are seen parked on both sides of the road. Shopkeepers allege that they are not allowed to unload their goods on the road by the police who, however, allow small goods-laden vehicles to ply on the road by taking cash from them.

Meanwhile, vendors are also seen doing business on either side of the road. When asked they say that they are allowed to do business on payment of cash.
