No roads to reach pristine tourist spots!

GUWAHATI, Dec 19: Assam is trying to boost its tourism sector without making roads reach its pristine tourist spots.

Speaking to this reporter, State hill area research officer Kishore kumar Das said, “There’re a lot of scopes for tourism in the hills of Assam. Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao are beautiful places – still to be touched by modernization and industrialization. These places have enough potential to be perfect tourist spots, if provided with proper infrastructure and better transportation facilities. Bad roads are proving to be huge hindrance in the way of promoting tourism.” According to Das, there are also scopes of adventurous activities like trekking and para-jumping in the hill areas.

“If Karbi Anglong is developed as a tourist spot in the right earnest, foreign and domestic tourists can get the taste of traditiol drinks, some wonderful folk music with accompaniment with bamboo instruments, and other aspects of the rich culture of the tribal people. At some remote places, it has also been known to have mummies. Various thirst quenching traditiol brews of these hilly areas can also allure tourists to the places. But the first thing needed to be done for this is to make the transportation and infrastructure better,” Das added.
