Northeast Book Fair from today

Guwahati, Nov 2: The Northeast Book Fair organized by All Assam Publishers and Book Sellers’ Association will start off from November 2 at AEI field at Chandmari in the city and conclude on November 14.

State Education Minister Himanta Bishwa Sarma will take part on the first day of the fair. Writer Nirupama Borgohain will grace the occasion as the special guest. tiol Book Trust Director and writer Rita Choudhuri will be the respected guest on the occasion.

Over 90 publishing houses from Guwahati, parts of Assam and Ludhia, Delhi, Kolkatta, Bangalore, Mumbai, Government and private intertiol ones will take part in the book fair with over 224 book stalls.

On the occasion of Bhupen Hazarika’s death anniversary a Bhanpundra Sangeet competition will be organized from 12 noon on November 6.

Interactive programmes with young writer Aruni Kashyap, Anurag Saikia, dancer Taman Dipak, Gymst Deepa Karmakar and others have been scheduled.

Hiren Gohain will take part in an interactive programme on November 13.

On the occasion of Children’s Day that falls on November 14, art, recitation of poems and storytelling competitions will be held among children from 9.30 am on November 13 in memory of Bhabendra Saikia.
