Northeast-IAS celebrates Civil Services Day

GUWAHATI, April 21: The Northeast Institute of Advanced Studies (Northeast-IAS) celebrated Civil Services Day on Saturday at their Guwahati campus as a part commitment to promote leadership. 
As chief guest at the event Himangshu Shekhar Das, a retired IAS officer and State Chief Information Commissioner, addressed the participants on ‘Good Governance and Development of Northeast India”. Speaking at the event, Das said civil servants must have good quality of traits like honesty, integrity, impartiality and efficiency. He also stated for overall development of the north-eastern region, both micro and macro-level focus needs to be nurtured and taken into consideration.
While delivering the welcome address, Sankar Ray, Director Academics of Northeast-IAS, urged the youth of the region to take the opportunity given by Northeast Institute of Advanced Studies. The institute offers free training to 100 talented youths of the State for UPSC/APSC examinations. “A pool of experienced faculty from Delhi has been invited to conduct the training,” he stated. Speaking at the event, Meenakshi Saikia, Assistant Director of Northeast-IAS, urged the aspirants to inculcate good traits to become civil servants and also encouraged aspirants to utilize the platform given by the NE-IAS. “This initiative of NE-IAS will surely benefit a large number of youths who dream of a career in civil services but cannot pursue the same for various reasons. NE-IAS makes an appeal to all those youths who are graduates and above 21 years to be a part of this mission 100 and make their dreams come true,” the statement added.
