Now Rahul set for padayatra in Assam

GUWAHATI, Dec 9: All India Congress Committee (AICC) vice president Rahul Gandhi is set to take out a padayatra, either in Kamrup or Barpeta district, on December 12.

This came close on the heels of the State BJP rocking the city with its Dispur gherao proramme from Khapara today.

The proposed visit of the Nehru-Gandhi scion seems to have energized the Congress camp in Assam where the BJP is at its peak in so far as campaign for the 2016 Assembly election is concerned.    

The Congress vice president is on a two-day visit to the State from December 11. After his arrival in the Lokapriya Gopith Bordoloi Intertiol Airport (LGBIA) on December 11 at noon, Rahul Gandhi will interact with women self-help groups at GMCH auditorium at 3.30 pm, and meet the leaders of the party’s district and mandal committees and the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, besides leaders of the party’s frontal organizations like Assam Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) and the tiol Students’ Union (NSUI) at 5 pm at District Library. At night, he will interact with intellectuals and senior Congress leaders at Brahmaputra Guest House. On December 12, Rahul Gandhi will meet editors and senior jourlists before taking out a padayatra either in Kamrup or Barpeta district. He will wind up his visit to the State on that day.
