NRL signs historic MoU for Indo-Bangla Friendship Pipeline

GUwahati, April 23: On the eve of NRL’s 23rd Foundation Day on April 22, a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between NRL and Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) at the Bangladesh capital of Dhaka.

The MoU provides for export of petroleum products from NRL’s Marketing Termil in Siliguri, West Bengal, India to Bangladesh Petroleum’s Depot at Parbatipur, Bangladesh through the proposed ‘Indo-Bangla Friendship Pipeline (IBFPL)’ of length 130 kms and capacity 1 MMTPA. The pipeline will be implemented through a joint venture company formed by NRL and Bangladesh Petroleum, a press release stated.

The MoU was signed by GM (Marketing and Business Development) NRL- Bruno Ekka and, GM (Planning and Development), BPC - Mustafa Qudrat-I-Elahi in presence of Secretary-Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Government of Bangladesh Abubakar Siddique; officials from Indian High Commission, Bangladesh; MD NRL -  P. Padmabhan; Chairman Bangladesh Petroleum –AM Badrudduja and other senior officials from NRL and BPC.
