NSUI demonstration demanding textbooks

GUWAHATI, Jan 17: The Assam State Committee of the tiol Students’ Union of India (NSUI) came down heavily on the State Education Department for, what it said, passing the buck on HPC, Jagiraod for its  failure of supplying free textbooks books to the students of the State even as 15 days of the as the new Academic Session have already been elapsed.

Members of NSUI State and Guwahati city committees today demonstrated in front of SSA Mission, Assam and tiol Mission for Secondary Education at Kahilipara in the city.  They shouted slogans like ‘Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hai hai’ and raised the demand for his resigtion if he cannot supply textbooks free of cost to the students. They also burnt the effigy of Sarma, demanded him of supplying textbooks free of cost within 24 hours in accordance with the assurance given by him earlier.
