Bimal Ch Medhi
GUWAHATI, Sept 1: Noted stage and television artiste and social activist Bimal Ch Medhi breathed his last on August 30. Medhi, a resident of Uzanbazar area of the city, acted in Assamese movies like ‘Maniram Dewan’, ‘Aai Mur Jonome Jonome’ and ‘Moromi’. He also acted in television serials like ‘Jowai’, ‘Oghori Atmar Kahini’. Medhi, who was the working president of Guwahati Bihu Sanmilani - the first ‘mancha bihu’ of Assam, was also associated with Kamrup tya Samiti - Kumar Bhaskar tya Mandir as its president. Apart from this he was also associated with several other organizations including Latasil Ganesh Mandir, Latasil Playground Development Committee, Save Guwahati Build Guwahati and New Art Players. Medhi leaves behind his wife, two daughters and a host of relatives and well wishers. The sudden demise of Medhi descended a pall of gloom in Uzanbazar area.
