DIMORIA, Oct 26: Man-elephant conflicts are on the rise in the State. In yet another incident of human hostility towards animals, an elephant on Sunday night trampled one Bipin Choudhury to death in Khetri area.

It has been learnt that, on Sunday night two elephants came down from the nearby hills in search of food. Soon, both the elephants separated. On learning about the arrival of the wild elephants, the local residents came out with drums and spears which frightened one of the elephant. As a result, the elephants started running here and there damaging many properties. When the elephant tried to break the wall of Khetri police station in order to escape, Bipin Choudhury came face to face with the elephant. Agitated, the elephants trampled him to death.

Though, forest officials from Sopur immediately rushed to the spot, the elephants were no where to be found. However, to ensure that wild elephants cannot infiltrate into human inhabited areas, DFO Jalim Das has assured to deploy forest guards in the area.
