GUWAHATI, Sept 26: A tiol party with a practical regiol outlook, both in words and in deeds, is what the BJP in Assam actually is. Making such a statement, State BJP president Siddhartha Bhattacharyya has claimed that this is one of the reasons why the leaders of a number of regiol organizations like the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) have been attracted to the BJP.
Bhattacharyya said: “In Assam the BJP is working with a regiol mind set -- taking into account various problems afflicting the ethnic groups in the State. Our aim is to find out lasting solutions to the ethnic problems in the State. And this attitude of the party has come to the notice of a number of regiol student and youth organizations that have all along been championing the cause of regiolism.”
Close of the heels on the joining of the BJP by AJYCP leader Manoj Baruah, former AASU president Sankar Prasad Roy and general secretary Tapan Kumar Gogoi are set to join the party on September 28. Moran Students’ Association adviser Arunjyoti Moran, former AGP MLA... four former general secretaries of the Post Graduate Students’ Union (PGSU) of Gauhati University and the general secretaries of a number of college students’ unions allegiance to the AASU are set to join the BJP at the same function on September 28 at Karbi Sangha Field at Hengrabari in Guwahati.
Bhattacharyya said: “Joining of the student and youth leaders to the party will surely boost the morale of the BJP and strengthen its regiol outlook. These leaders had been associated with the student and youth movement in the state for years. Prime Minister rendra Modi has laid stress on the youth force for all-round development of the country”.
