Palasbari LAC agog with festivities

MIRZA, Oct 20: The Durga Puja is being celebrated amid pomp and gaiety with religious fervour at various places in Palasbari Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC) since October 19.
Devotees at Mirza, Palasbari, Bijaygar, Uparhali, Sorpara, Batorhat, Jharobodi, Rampur, Kukurmara, Boruar-Bagon, Satpur, Tiniali etc., areas in the LAC are agog with festivities. The Batorhat Durga Puja Samiti is celebrating its Diamong Jubilee this year. On this occasion, Samiti president Dinesh Chandra th hoisted the religious flag at 9.15 this morning, followed by a memorial meeting, a plantation programme, opening the gate, opening the permanent gate etc. A colourful cultural procession was taken out at 10.30 am, and it was flagged off by South Kamrup Girls’ College Principal Dr. Gajendra Adhikari. The cultural procession rent the air in the entire Batorhat, Bijaygar, Uparhali, Mirza etc., areas. Bodo cultural troupes, Bihu dancers, band parties, dholias, am singers, ayati am singers and others took part in the procession in large number from the locality.
Likewise, the people of Uparhali have also been observing the five-day Durgotsav since October 19. At 8 am this morning, the Kalaratri Puja began and the paying of homage was held at 12 noon. The mid-night puja will start at 11 pm to be followed by a drama to be staged by Basudev tya Parishad.
On October 21, the Mahastami puja will get started in the morning, to be followed by Sandhi Puja, Pushpanjali, Ojapali, Arati, Ghoshaam etc. The Mahavami puja will be get started in the morning of October 22. There will be puja for Siddhidatri, homyaj, Shanti etc. On October 23 there will be Vishnu Path in the morning, homyaj, Shanti, procession with the idols and immersion.
