Panchayat poll: Will BJP-AGP fight together? Scene obscure

By our Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, May 5: Coalition partners AGP and BJP fought the last Assembly poll in the State together. The AGP supported the BJP in the recently-held Dhemaji Assembly and Lakhimpur Parliamentary bye-polls also. However, if they will fight the forthcoming panchayat poll in the State together or not is still obscure. The BJP has already started its preparations for the panchayat poll, and the AGP is also not lagging behind. So far, the two parties are engaged in poll preparations on their own. Talking to The Sentinel today, AGP president and State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora said: “We’re ready to fight the panchayat poll. We are working to strengthen the party organization. The party has discussed the issue of panchayat poll in the last executive meeting. We’ve already appointed some central poll observers of the party, district wise. They’ve already started to interact with the leaders of the districts.”
