GUWAHATI, June 29: The All Assam Unyan Parishad (AAUP) has opposed to the Centre’s move to auction 12 oilfields of the State to private parties through open bidding.

Talking to newsmen at Dispur Press Club today, AAUP president Mousum Kumar Uzir and general secretary Anjal Buragohain said: “A few days back Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan made an announcement on the move to hand over 12 oilfields of the State to private companies. We vehemently oppose the move taken by the Centre by keeping the people of Assam in dark. Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal should make his stand on this issue clear.”
