Patowary iugurates Prabasi Asomiya Kendra

GUWAHATI, July 18: A Prabasi Asomiya Kendra set up in the office campus of Assam Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. (AIDC), Guwahati was iugurated on Tuesday by Industries and Commerce Minister, Chandra Mohan Patowary.

Patowary was accompanied by Additiol Chief Secretary (Industries and Commerce) Ravi Capoor. The Kendra is dedicated to facilitate the people of Assam origin living abroad and as a centre to help and engage with Assam’s vast diaspora.

Patowary said that the Kendra would facilitate the Assamese diaspora in the forthcoming Global Investors Summit to be held in January, 2018 at Guwahati.

AIDC Maging Director Ashutosh Agnihotri said that during the Global Investors Summit, one day would be earmarked for the ‘Prabasi Asomiya’ and the Kendra would facilitate them in participation during the Summit and at the ‘Prabasi Asomiya Day’ and also to assist in business opportunities in Assam.

Meanwhile, Patowary iugurated the new office building of Executive Engineer of Industries and Commerce Department at Industrial Estate, Bamunimaidam on Tuesday. The two-storeyed building has been built at a cost of Rs.1,75,18,000. It has a total area of 7,203.60 sq ft including both the floors.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Patowary called upon all the officials and employees of the office of the Executive Engineer to discharge their duties sincerely in the new set up.

Additiol Chief Secretary of Industries and Commerce Department, Ravi Capoor said that the office which was established in 1958 was functioning with minimum infrastructure and was in a deplorable state. He hoped that the new office building would create a positive ambience for the officials and staff to enhance their performance and would also convey an optimistic message to the visitors.

Commissioner & Secretary of the Department, Ashutosh Agnihotri hoped that the new office environment would instill zeal and enthusiasm among its employees and would go a long way in successfully implementing various departmental activities.
