PB Acharya iugurates Vibrant Northeast

GUWAHATI, May 4: Vibrant North East 2017 on Thursday witnesses a great start with participants pouring in from various places to take part in the three-day Agri-Horti Expo being held at Veteriry College Ground here. The event was iugurated by Padmabha Balakrish Acharya, Governor of galand and Aruchal Pradesh who also visited the stalls before iugurating the programme, a press release stated.

In his iugural speech Acharya said, “To develop we have to go out of our shelves. North East India is complete; there are more than 300 universities in the region. Let us have a vision paper for every state, district and panchayat. We need more participants FOR development and NE region has that potentiality.” He further said that, we should not only discuss about the development of educatiol system but also development of the region.

Vibrant North East 2017 is a platform to provide opportunity for the region to showcase its potential to the rest of the country, partnering and engaging to explore the opportunities and participating in the growth and development of the region. A large number of the tiol and intertiol stake-holders from the industry, institutions, Government and the development sectors showcased their programs and schemes, products, technologies and services and deliberate upon the issues and opportunities and the way forward.

Anish Ansari, Chairman, Centre for Agriculture and Rural Development (CARD) in his welcome address said, “More than 50% of people spend their livelihood through farming. Government of India should invest more in farming and training should be provided so that the farmers can showcase their potential and contribute towards growth and development of the region. ”

Also present at the iuguration were Dr. KM Bujarbaruah, Vice Chancellor, Assam Agriculture University; Dr. Ajit Kumar, Vice Chancellor, NIFTEM; Dr. Aditya Prasad Pandey, Vice Chancellor, Manipur University; Pankaj Prasad, Maging Director, NERAMAC and PL Thanga, Secretary, Mizoram Planning Board amongst many other dignitaries.

Vibrant North East 2017 is supported by Ministry of DoNER, and is being organised by CARD in association with ASSOCHAM and co-organised by NERAMAC Ltd. and Indian Council of Food and Agriculture.
