Peace processions in State by Jamiat

GUWAHATI, Aug 13: Assam State Jalimat Ulama-e-Hind, along with the rest of the country, took out processions at various places in Assam, including Guwahati, seeking restoration of peace, unity and integrity of the tion and against commulism.

In Guwahati, a procession was taken out along the bank of Dighalipukhuri in the presence of hundreds of people of all walks of life. Speaking on the occasion, most of the speakers said that India occupies the top position in the world in so far as its composite culture and unity and integrity are concerned. Under no circumstances such a reputation would be allowed to be distorted. In order to make that happen, people belonging to all communities, faiths and creed should come out and shout in unison against commulism and hatred. They said that it is the duty of each and every citizen of the country to respect the constitution of the tion.

Jamiat did take part in the Struggle for Independence under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi. Thousands of Jamiat leaders were martyred in the freedom struggle.    

Apart from Guwahati, such processions were taken at Dhubri, Digboi, gaon, Hojai, Jorhat, Golaghat, Mangaldai, Goalpara, Barpeta, Silchar, Karimganj etc.
