From our Correspondent

DIMORIA, Dec 13: As part of its preparations for the 2016 Assembly elections in the State, the AGP today held a meeting at Sopur today, and said that the people of the Stated wanted an anti-Congress and anti-AGP government at Dispur.

The meeting, presided over by party’s Dispur Coordition Committee president Girin Talukdar, was attended, among others, by working president Keshab Mahanta, general secretary Durgadas Boro, Charan Deka and Assam Mahila Parisahd (AMP) leader Rupali Das.

Speaking at the meeting, Durgadas Boro said: “The people of the State want an anti-Congress and anti-BJP government at Dispur. The prices of essential commodities are beyond the control of Dispur and Delhi for which the common people have to bear the brunt. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi goes to the people of the State time and again with the issue of secret killing despite his repeated failure to pinpoint any culprits. This is a pet issue for the Chief Minister to woo voters.”

Speaking against the BJP, Boro said: “Of late the BJP has started commul politics which doesn’t augur well for Assam.”

Keshab Mahanta appealed to the party workers to strengthen the party from the grassroots level.

Around 200 people took part at the meeting.
