Plea on dispersed Assamese

GUWAHATI, Nov 30: A group working to safeguard the interests of dispersed Assamese people living in Bangladesh, Myanmar and Nepal submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal recently seeking Dispur’s intervention to set up a separate department on the subject of ‘historically dispersed Assamese people’. A group of 19 people signed a memorandum in which it was mentioned that the issue of historically dispersed Assamese people had progressed under the tenure of former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi. They demanded of d Sonowal to ensure that educatiol institutes in the state include the subject of dispersed Assamese which will serve the purpose of the dispersed Assamese, besides being a major means of integration.
