Poachers’ camp busted

GUWAHATI, March 5: Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Forest Department and the CRPF personnel today crackdown on a poachers’ camp at Chhagali Chhari in Garbhanga Reserve Forest in Kamrup (M) district and arrested four poachers. Five other poachers fled the scene. The team seized four guns from them. The arrested persons are Twal Ja, Don Dorjoi, Bul Marbaniang and Kuet Kurba. They are from Meghalaya.
The poachers set up a camp there. They had a long-term plan as they stocked food grains and other commodities for months together. According to sources, their main target is elephant. They sell elephant tusk and meat. All the four have been handed over to Gorchuk police.
