Power workers term  electricity Bill anti-people

GUWAHATI, March 14: The Assam State Power Workers’ Union (ASPWU) has termed the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2014 as anti-people and raised the demand for holding it on.

Expressing serious concern over, what it said, anti-people Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2014, the union said that the Bill, if got its passage, would affect the common people. In protest against the Bill the Union members staged a dhar at Dispur Last Gate on Wednesday. The union further raised the demand for review of implementation of the Electricity Act, 2003. It also demanded of the government for implementation of old pension scheme for employees recruited after 2004, besides ensuring safe working condition for employees doing risk-prone jobs.
