GUWAHATI, Jan 16: Doordardshan’s Programme Production Centre, North East (PPC-NE) is going to telecast live a unique programme – Ek Shaam Veer Jowano Ke am – on January 18 from Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra Intertiol Auditorium on brave soldiers and the sentinels of the Northeast who laid down lives while guarding the frontiers of the country.
Talking to newsmen in the city today, PPC(NE) head Rupam Bora said that as many as 13 war heroes of the region would be honoured. The 13 heroes, according to Bora, are Late Captain Neikezahakou Kenguresie, MVC from galand; Late Captain KC Nongrum, MVC from Meghalaya; Late sepoy Rabi Kumar Debbarma, VrC, from Tripura; Late Captain Jintu Gogoi, VrC, from Assam; Wing Commander Utpal Borbora, VrC, from Assam; Late Havildar Hangpan Dada, AC, from Aruchal Pradesh; Subedar (hons captain) Kishore Rai, SC, from Sikkim; ik Dhan Bahadur Chettri, SC from Sikkim; Late Lance yak Sarangthem Ingocha Singh, SC from Manipur; Late Guardsman Taiyenjam Deban Singh, SC from Manipur; Brig William JB Sturgeon, YSM, SM from Meghalaya; ex-sepoy Lalduhawma, SM from Mizoram and Late yak Patey Tassuk, SM from Aruchal Pradesh. All the 13 war heroes or their next of kin would be presented a citation, a gamosa, a bouquet each. The live telecast would be from 6.30 pm to 9 pm on January 18.
While Prasar Bharati CEO Suresh Chandra Panda will be the chief guest on the occasion, Air Marshal Anjan Kumar Gogoi, Lt. Gen. Prab Kumar Bharali, ERD Foundation chairman Mohbubul Hoque and Doordarshan and AIR Additiol Director General, NEZ DN Basumatari will the guest of honour on the occasion.
