Pranjal Kumar Bhattacharya no more

GUWAHATI, Feb 18: Former director of the Economics and Statistics department of the State government, Pranjal Kumar Bhattacharya passed away at GNRC hospital in Guwahati at 2.10 am on Thursday. He was 61.

Bhattacharya who is also the elder brother of chief adviser of All Assam Students’ Union Dr Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya was working with the Assam Gramin Vikas Bank at the time of his demise. He was admitted to GNRC on Feb 11 after he had a stroke.

It may be mentioned that Bhattacharya had penned down several articles on Economics and Statistics which were widely published in several newspapers of the State. He has left behind his mother, wife, four brother and sisters including Dr Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya, one son and a daughter and several other relatives.

He was cremated at bagraha on Thursday afternoon.

Union Minister of State Sarbanda Sonowal, AGP president Atul Bora, AGP legislature party leader Phanibhushan Choudhury, president of All Assam Students Union Dipanka Kumar th, general secretary Lurin Jyoti Gogoi, the All Guwahati Students Union and several other organizations have condoled his demise.
