Prasan Badan Goswami: A Tribute

Prasan Badan Goswami of Krish gar, Guwahati passed away on March 5, 2015 at a hospital in Guwahati. Born as the eldest son to late Bangshi Badan Goswami and Uttampriya Devi of ptipara Xattra in lbari district in September, 1935, Goswami had his schooling in Jagara High School and graduated with flying colours from B Barooah College, Guwahati. He obtained the degree of B. Lib. Sc. from Gauhati University. He rendered his sincere service to various educatiol institutions like Assam Ayurvedic College, Assam Engineering College, Textile Institute, and Assam Engineering Institute to build up their libraries. He retired as the librarian of Assam Engineering Institute, Chandamari, Guwahati.
A prominent social worker, Goswami was closely associated with several organizations like Krishgar mghar Samiti, Krishgar Bikas Kendra, Pub-Guwahati Bihu Sanmilani, Pensioners’ Association and so on. He sincerely rendered services for the development of the greater Krishgar area. He was also an active member of the state BJP and was involved in its organizatiol programmes.
He had an incredible zest for life even till his last days. Because of his affable persolity and compassiote ture, he was appreciated and respected by his neighbours, family members as well as peers. The old students of Assam Engineering Institute always remember his help and cooperation they had received during and even after his service tenure in that institution. Because of his loving ture and smiling face he stood like a father-figure to the residents of the Krishgar area near Housing Campus.
He leaves behind two sons and three daughters, besides a host of relatives and admirers. Today on the day of his Adya Shradha, we pray to Almighty to grant eterl peace to the departed soul.
