President of India expresses grief over flood in Assam

GUWAHATI, August 8: President of India  Prab Mukherjee expressed his grief over the loss of lives and damage to property caused by the recent waves of flood in Assam. In a letter addressed to Assam Governor PB Acharya, the President said, “My thoughts are with all those affected by the flood. I am sure that the Governments both Central and State and other agencies concerned are doing their best to provide all possible help to the affected families by extending rescue and relief operations”.  Expressing condolences to the families of the deceased, the President said, “I offer my prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured persons and hope that they resume their normal lives with a new ray of hope”.  President Mukherjee also asked the State Government to keep him informed of the progress in addressing the problem of flood in Assam.
