Process for rhino protection force underway

GUWAHATI, July 11: At long last, the people of the State have caught a glimpse of the Special Rhino Protection Force (SRPF) for the KNP.  

The Special Tiger Protection Force (Special Rhino Protection Force-SRPF) for the KNP is set to be formed under the guidelines of the tiol Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) of the Government of India. The procedure for recruitment has already been started. According to official sources, initially the force is to have 90 constables, besides 22 others on deputation. The recruits will have to undergo year-long basic police training. According to the sources, the basic training will be followed by jungle-warfare training like commandos. The force, according to sources, will be on the ground within two years.

Candidates eligible for the posts are from gaon, Golaghat, Sonitpur, Biswath and Karbi Anglong districts.
