Protesting crimes against women

GUWAHATI, April 21: Slogans and protest processions against the rising crimes against women in the State see no end. As many as eight organizations took out such a procession in Guwahati on Saturday in support of their demand for putting an end to such crimes. The Nikhil Bharat Ganatantrik Mahila Samiti, Sadou Axom Pragatisheel Nari Sanstha, Asom Mahila Sangha, NE Network, SFI, DYFI, AISF and the Asom Chatra Yuba Sanmilan took out a procession from Rotary Club near Gauhati Club on Saturday to the office of the Kamrup(M) Deputy Commissioner. They submitted a memorandum each to the Prime Minister and the Assam Chief Minister in support of their demand for immediate end to crimes and violence against women in the State. The other demands of the protesting organizations are speeding up of all cases of crimes against women through fast-track courts, stringent punishment to the culprits committing crimes against women etc.
