Punish parking lots charging exorbitant fees: Bora

GUWAHATI, July 25: Dispur MLA Atul Bora has sent a missive to Guwahati Police Commissioner Hiren th to bring it to the latter’s notice that some lessees of parking lots in the city have been charging parking fees at exorbitant rates. In the missive sent on Tuesday, the MLA said: “It has been brought to my notice that the lessee of the private parking lot at Khapara is charging parking fees as high as Rs 200-300 against the fixed Rs 20. I want immediate action against the lessee and his representatives so as to give the public a succour. I have heard from drivers and handymen that they are tortured when they refuse to pay the exorbitant amount which the lessee or his representatives demand.”
