DIMORIA, Sept 2: Pragjyotispur Police today raided Mansur Chemical Industries located at Chandrapur on the outskirts of Guwahati, seized samples of chemical manures being sold there and sent them to the Forensic Science Laboratory for test so as to ascertain if they are at all manures or not.
There have been allegations over the years that the fertilizer industries located at Chandrapur and owned by one Syed Abdul is selling fake chemical manures and fertilizers over the years. Allegations go that the farmers who buy fertilizers and manures from the particular chemical industries fail to give the desired results in crop yield. Following some concrete complaints before the Pragjyotispur police station, the police today raided the factory, seized some samples and sent them for chemical tests.
In-charge of Pragjyotishpur police station Satyandra Singh Hazari said: “We’ve raided the chemical industry, took samples and sent them to the laboratory for test. We can’t ascertain if they are fake or genuine. If the allegations are proved to true, it’s a forgery.”
There are also such allegations against other chemical factories in the State. It is worth mentioning here that during the last term of the Congress, even limestone was supplied as fertilizers among the farmers.
