Recruitment of 5,624  into State police soon

GUWAHATI, April 3: The Assam Police is going to recruit 5,624 candidates soon to induct them in the force, said State-level Police Recruitment Board chairman Pradip Kumar.

Talking to the media in Guwahati on Tuesday, Kumar said: “The 5,624 posts comprise 130 posts of sub-inspectors, 1,851 posts of UB constables and 3,643 posts of AB constables. An advertisement in this regard is going to be published within ten days. In case of recruitment of constables, there will two per cent allotment each for sportspersons, SPOs, home guards, VDPs and former militants. There will also be ten per cent allotment for candidates from militancy-affected areas in the recruitment of constables. There’re 80 police stations located at militancy-affected areas in the State.”

Kumar further said: “We’ve also been entrusted to recruit 525 forest guards, 135 jail wardens and 145 AISF personnel. While the advertisements for recruitment of AISF personnel and forest guards have already been published, the one for jail wardens is going to be published soon.”

Meanwhile, Kumar declared the lists of AB constables prepared for Dhubri, Barpeta and gaon districts at the press briefing. A total of 1,386 candidates – 1,249 males and 137 females – have been selected as constables for the three districts.  The advertisement for the three districts was for 1,420 posts, but 34 posts have been left out as no applicant against ST(H) posts applied from Dhubri and Barpeta districts. Kumar also declared the results 90 posts – nine females and 81 males— of the Rhino Protection Force.
