Rector Major visits Don Bosco school in city

GUWAHATI, Nov 9: Rev Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) visited Don Bosco School, Panbazar here on Thursday. 
The first Spaniard and third non-Italian to become Rector Major in Salesian history, he was given a warm welcome by the school students who were all decked up in colourful ethnic attire. 
Some of the other dignitaries who escorted the Rector Major were Fr. VM Thomas, Salesian Provincial, Guwahati Province, Fr. Horacio Lopez, Secretary to the Rector Major, Fr. Maria Arokiam Kaga SDB, the Regiol Councillor for South Asia and school Principal Fr. Sebastian Mathew. 
 All the dignitaries were welcomed by school Principal Fr. Sebastian Mathew, who also felicitated the Rector Major with a traditiol gamocha, a bouquet of flowers and a memento of a rhino. 
Fr Artime in his speech called upon the students to imbibe the ideals of the patron-saint John Bosco, the 19th century Roman Catholic priest, whose followers are now in over 132 countries spreading the message of love and educating the youth. 
The Rector Major’s three-day Guwahati visit is a part of his all-India visit of three Salesian provinces of Bangalore, Guwahati and Mumbai.
The Rector Major arrived on a three-day visit to Guwahati on Wednesday.
