Relic found in Sopur village

SOPUR, May 31: Mitoni Krish gar in the Sopur area on the outskirts of Guwahati is set to hit headlines for, what the locals claim, the recovery of eighth century relics from a pond.

According to the local people, a stone with sketches of archeological importance was recovered from the pond of Santra Baruah today. It has been orally transmitted for generations that a Shiva temple was located near the site of the pond where the relic was found today.

The local people want Dispur to take interest into the matter and conduct an archeological survey so as to ascertain if there are more such stones and it they have any archeological value or not.
