Revenue collection up

GUWAHATI, April 8: The office the of East Kamrup DFO broke its own record in revenue collection in fiscal 2016-17 by collecting Rs 10,41,63,488 against Rs 3,17,33,746 in fiscal 2015-16, Rs. 2,66, 88,388 in 2014-15, and Rs 1,44,38,018 in 2013-14. DFO Ranjit Konwar said that the revenue came in the form of royalty from earth, stone, timber and other forest resources. He said that to check illegal transportation of forest resources by road a special squad had been formed to keep watch in Guwahati, South Guwahati, Sopur, Palasbari and Rani. The squad seized many trucks and small vehicles carrying forest resources illegally and slapped fines on them under the Forest law, adding to the Department’s exchequer.
